Welcome to In the Works!
I’ve been musing how to begin this blog, which (inevitably) has led to more musing, rather than words on the page. The remedy I offer the writers I coach is to start in the middle, to write their way through and out. The ‘middle or third way’: between life’s peaks and troughs, between hopes and reality, between all I am and all I am not, balancing past and future, walking this thin line of the present.
This is one facet of what my coaching is about: bringing clients to their own centre, where they can see more clearly where they stand - in themselves and in the larger world.
Another facet is walking that thin line of now: finding that first step that can be taken that can suddenly move you in the desired direction. A step that most of us dance around, poised between hope and reality.
A third facet - since the theme here seems to be 'threes' - is change. If the ancient philosopher Heraclitus is right, ‘nothing endures but change’. It is often a delicious enticing prospect, until you run smack into yourself.
This is where I work: with change, with finding clarity and perspective, with finding a way to flow into action. What is stopping you from moving forward? Where did you stand, in yourself and in the world? What first step can you take?
Get in touch if you want to continue the conversation!
You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where
you might be swept off to.
